“I found Mike in my late 40’s with a leg full of metal. I was learning to walk again after breaking both my tibia and fibula. It was a disastrous injury. One was a spiral fracture leaving my bone in over 30 pieces. Prior to the injury I was very active, especially in the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Despite my setback I couldn’t wait to train again. There are no words to describe how amazing Mike is! He has extensive anatomy and physiology knowledge, and addressed my entire body holistically. I had major mobility and compensation issues that needed to be worked through. I was immobile for weeks, then spent months on crutches. I had major atrophy from my ankle through my glutes on my injured side. I struggled to even get the muscles to fire. He patiently worked with me, trying things until he found what worked. He pushed me hard, but always within what my body was able to handle. My body progressed rapidly in mobility, strength, and balance. My mind was also positively affected. He motivated me to start overcoming the fear I had of getting hurt again, and addressed my diet and nutritional needs as part of my treatment. Mike doesn’t tolerate laziness and sets the tone by example. I’ve learned so much from him and I feel as if we haven’t scratched the surface of what he has to give. Mike incorporated Jiu jitsu movements in my sessions. As soon as it was safe, we spent time grappling. Grappling for the first time after my injury was an extremely happy day. I took a break from training with Mike for 2 years due to a move out of state. While away I tried a variety of other therapists, trainers, etc, but nobody compared to him. He even went the extra mile by trying to help me find people in my area to work with! I’m now back in NC and am so excited to work with him again. All the metal has been removed from my leg. I’m ready to get stronger and in better shape in every way. I would be remiss if I didn’t add that Mike is also a super cool person, and a lot of fun. He clearly cares about his clients. He provides holistic care that is simply excellent!”
“Approximately 4 years ago while competing in a Bjj tournament, I had a knee injury that tore my patellar tendon, ACL, PCL, and MCL.Having had an active lifestyle most of my life, I underwent 14 months of rehab to try and get my life back. I was not seeing the results I wanted and became depressed. I had been following Mike’s progress from his recovery, and his work with clients. I approached him with the desire to have him work with me and from that point I was hooked. The care and patience he took to set attainable goals, and reduce pain and discomfort was amazing. As an older person who has chosen combat sports as my form of exercise, I am grateful for Mike’s ability to keep me moving. The old school “no pain no gain” philosophies are gone and the results are real. This approach has helped me to make exponential gains in my recovery and my return to martial arts training. If you are rehabbing an injury or looking to take your performance to the next level, Mike Asmar, Kinetic Flow master, is your guy.”
“Mike Asmar is a professional who is always increasing his knowledge and skill sets. He is open minded in his search, and will never cease to grow in his abilities to help others. This aspect of Mike is what sets him apart from the majority of professionals. I trusted him completely and he never failed to substantially decrease my pain and dysfunctions or eradicate them entirely when possible. Mike’s own journey with pain made me feel understood and his compassion helped ease the burden of chronic pain and injuries. I cannot recommend him highly enough. I’ll always be grateful for how much he helped me improve my health and function.”
“Before working with Mike at Kinetic Flow, I had hit a plateau in my training and wanted more. We have now been working together for several years, and it has been a complete game changer. He caters to each client’s individual needs, taking the time to develop a plan that will bring them to their highest potential. His attention to detail and continuous support is unmatched, and NEVER leaves a client feeling like “just another number”. I am so grateful to have found Mike, and to have access to an ever evolving program that continues to help me develop - not just in my martial arts training, but also in helping to build a better, stronger, and healthier body.”
“Mike Asmar is the real deal when it comes to both casual and elite athletes reaching their potential. Whether it’s dealing with an injury, getting in shape or beating the competition, his knowledge and passion will help you get there.”
“I have had the pleasure of having Mike in my corner for the last couple of years. He’s been a trainer, mentor, training/sparring partner, and friend. He’s coached me through multiple changes in this time including my diet, exercise/training routine, career paths, and more.I think the biggest thing Coach Mike has going for him is his true desire to help people with their goals and share the knowledge he has acquired. He has put the hours in on the mat, in the gym, and in the books and is willing to share his wisdom with anyone willing to apply the principles he teaches.Working with Mike would be a great decision for anyone looking to improve their discipline, health, or just overall quality of life.”
“I have been working with Mike for three years now and could not be happier. I first met Mike at Tapout where he was teaching classes. Mike just had an easy going vibe about him which made it so easy to choose him to train with. Mike has an endless amount of skills to teach. Boxing, Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, lifting, stretching, physical therapy, you name it. I hurt my shoulder when I was a kid and my mobility has been limited ever since. Working with Mike, he has shown me how to improve and even rebuild my shoulder back to health. I am in the best shape of my life and owe it all to Mike.”
“I have been working with Mike for over 2 years now, and he truly is the personification of dedication and knowledge. Not only are his training sessions very diverse, he is very creative in finding exercises and workouts that benefit your injuries or muscle groups specifically, or a theme of the month more generally. He combines weights, kettlebells, high intensity, MMA, and agility training, which is quite a feat. I am very happy with Mike as my trainer and am in the best shape of my life.”
“Mike really knows his stuff. I find him to be very thoughtful and his history with injuries has given him a true appreciation for individual training needs.”
“When I started training with Coach Mike, I felt as if all the Martial Arts gyms I was attending were doing the same thing and I was looking for something different to help my progression.Coach Mike introduced me to his unique training style that connects multiple aspects of movement and fighting in order to truly understand combat sports. He pushes you to test your capabilities all while making sure you understand why what we’re doing is important. Within weeks I noticed improvement and training more with him I progressed to a new level that has let me compete with a vast number of fighters. I can not recommend anybody more than Coach Mike; he is truly one of the best coaches around.”
“Love working with Mike. I live in NY and have him train me most every time I am in NC for more than a few days. The level of preparation that goes into his work, the depth of his knowledge and how he takes into account your individual goals or issues really stands out. I have had around 30-40 sessions with Mike and don’t believe it has ever felt like he just picked the same exact program he was running with someone else, everything has been so personalized. Highly recommend working with Mike for anything MMA or pain/rehab management related. ”
